Definitely a good thing to pry apart PVE dependance on PVP events, just concerned about frequency of open FOW/UW gates....

Don't forget the FoW and UW passage scrolls, which the scroll trader does handle. Sure they are still building up to a decent stock level, but once they do the only use of favor will be a cheaper way into FoW/UW.

Personally I'd prefer that the announcements are game wide, but apart from that I'm willing to wait and see what happens with this change. When we get to the point where there aren't enough titles being earned, I expect that ANET will change the favour system to something else.

Secondly, both places aren't even THAT popular anymore. There's always DOA, Sorrows, Tombs and the 2 elite missions in cantha to do if you want, plus theres hard mode as well. Not that a good amount of people still don't go to UW or FOW, but it's really not nearly as popular as it used to be.

I think that people that have "I'm very Important" should get a window of time to go if they want or something along those lines. Maybe even tie favor in with certain missions or quests completed. Once you gain those titles you can complete a series of master quests to gain favor for everyone for an hour.

That sounds like a cool idea

Even though i dont even have 2 max titles.....but i bearly FoW/UW as it is lol.

I'm withholding final judgement until I see it in action, but I actually think this is a good idea especially for those smaller regions that almost NEVER have favor of the gods under the current system. I'm not sure how long it takes on average for 20 max titles, but I'm kind of optimistic that it won't be as long as some might think seeing as we'll be dealing with titles across all regions.

I dont see the need for this period. They already introduced scrolls to gain access when that region did not have favor. This is another case of Anet listening to too many forum people.

How about this in addition:

In the access towns, have a big wishing well in the middle. For every 5K donated to the well it counts as one person getting a max title. You could even keep a number board up with a scantily clad ritualist turning the numbers as donations come in.

I am sorry, but this change makes less sense than the regional favor system. How often do players hit max ranks of titles? Even if all 3.5+ million accounts hit a max title...once titles are maxed, what will happen? no favor?

IT LASTS ONLY ONE HOUR pet twenty players maxing titles...

Not to mention lore-wise it makes no sense, "the gods are satisfied you blew millions of gold on alcohol"...

Maybe, "whenever a party finishes an elite mission" or something...but max titles???

Yes, the favor system was somewhat broken. But I thought that's why ANet introduced Passage Scrolls. I thought they were working quite well, to me it seemed like most of the "ZOMG EUROP alwaiz has teh favorz NERF pls" people had calmed down. Then they had to throw a spanner in the works ...

This system has an ENORMOUS flaw: it's not repeatable. With HoH you could try as many times as you want. Yes, it was elitist / gimmicky / whatever but there was always those few people who would always be doing it no matter what. They kept the system going.
With this system, you cannot have those sorts of people. After you have maxed out all the reasonable titles wth do you do? Start a new char and grind all the way again? I think not. Nobody would delete a char with max titles (therefore hundreds if not thousands of hours of play) just to help with favor. No matter how hard I try, there WILL be a point where I have maxed out all the titles on all the chars I want to. The same with everyone else on these forums. The truly casual players, the majority of the supposed "3 million player Guild Wars user base" (the ones who don't even know things like forums exist) are DEFINITELY not going to be getting these titles. From where I stand this seems deeply, terribly flawed.

I do have to agree that this is a bizzare change... but I'm not too worried because I honestly don't see this lasting very long as I think this will have much more backlash.. maybe not right away

but... as someone said... after awhile people will have all maxed out titles and thus the frequence of FoW/UW being open will go down drasticlly. It might be far off before it's noticable but still.... very very strange.

Obviously once EotN comes out and there are more titles that people will be maxing out and FoW/UW will be open a lot for a period of time but yeah... eventually it'll burn out to never.

What about donating Balthazar Faction? I think that would be a way that combines the PvP and PvE rather nicely. *shrug*

Favor might have needed a change, but NOT this.

Maxing title is non-repeatable, so once ppl get fed up of grind and have a break what happens? NO FAVOR.

Just making people pay 2k or whatever instead may have made more sense. Not everyone is after maxing all titles, so once those who are after it do so, what then? no more UW & FoW?
